LAURA RUSSO for Putnam County Legislator

Top Priorities:

Laura's primary concerns

  • Mandate Live-streaming Video and Audio of All Legislative Meetings: Laura is a staunch advocate for increased government transparency, regularly attending municipal meetings. She believes everyone, regardless of physical ability, should be able to watch the legislature conduct its business in the open.

  • Cut Property Taxes: In an era of runaway inflation and increased costs, Laura believes government should provide for whatever relief it can. She will work to reduce the tax burden by advocating for property tax cuts whenever possible.

  • Oppose NYC Relocating Migrants to Putnam County: Laura attended the county’s public meetings in 2023 to support legislation that declared Putnam a “Rule of Law” county, and ensured NYC Mayor Eric Adams could not drop homeless migrants in Putnam. She will continue to oppose any effort to make Putnam a sanctuary county and moves by other governments to re-locate migrants to Putnam.

  • Attract New Businesses to Putnam: In order to increase the commercial tax base, Laura will work to attract new economic opportunities to Putnam County, reducing red-tape and other obstacles from making it a better place to do business.

  • Show Up and Stand Up for You: Laura is a staple of her community. She is at every public function, fundraiser, and meeting. She’s always willing to volunteer and lend a hand to her neighbor. As County Legislator, she will continue to show up, and make sure all of her neighbor’s voices are heard.

Laura’s always been there, and always will be.
